Richard Wayker will be continuing his basketball career at Ancilla College next year. Richard was a point guard for Elkhart Central and was a captain for our team this year who went 10-12 during the season. He chose this college because he thought it was a great opportunity for him and he really liked the coach at this college.
“It was great being part of the blazer basketball family,” said Wayker. The most memorable game was the memorial game during the season and keeping the Longfellow Trophy here as it will be one of the last. He also had fun off the court just playing for fun.
“One of my favorite times was when school got cancelled and the whole basketball team went to East Lake and we just played for fun messing around. Coach Smith always talked about having each other’s back and taking someone with you and not just doing it for yourself.”
He looks forward for being on the team but he says he is going to have to work hard for minutes on the court but is going to work hard for those minutes. He also said school and grades comes first. He wants to study behavioral science. He wants to thank all the people supporting him and coming to his games and the student section for supporting the team.
