Sabryna Stanley signed with Purdue Northwest today to continue her softball career. Stanley, an outfielder who was named All-NIC Honorable Mention last year, chose PNW because she likes their program and they have been pursuing her since her freshman year.
“The four years I’ve played softball here at Central have been the highlight of my entire high school experience,” said Stanley. “I have made so many friends that I know I’ll keep forever. The things I’ve learned here are irreplaceable life lessons and I’m grateful to have been a part of this program.”
Stanley has high expectations for herself an her 2-0 team this year and she is willing to do whatever it takes to win, stating “whether it is to drive in runs, catch a fly ball, or cheer on my teammates.”
“My coach often tells us to take it one game at a time. My team is very important to me. We are like a family and it’s going to be hard to leave them, so I’m going to make our time together worthwhile.”
“Sabryna, or as we call her, ‘Cletus,’ is probably the most dedicated athlete I’ve ever had,” said Lady Blazer head coach Brent Bardo. “She expects to be pushed, and will meet or exceed most challenges given to her. She is willing to put in the extra work and has always been that athlete that will go all out, diving for balls, etcetera.”
“To be successful at the next level, those are key. While I cannot be certain she will be given a starting job in her freshman season, I guarantee that she will push those in the Purdue Northwest program for playing time. She will definitely impress with her defensive skills, and I expect with the coaching she will get at the next level, her batting will only continue to improve. I have no doubt that Sabryna will do very well there”.
