20914425_778169445698693_5236129084001349120_nThe Mangy Lion is returning to Blazer Boulevard! The Blue Blazer football team avenged last season’s 21-20 loss with a victory by the same score over the Crimson Chargers Saturday night. Junior tailback Ricky Rocha scored the game winning touchdown with just over a minute left. The game was then sealed with junior defensive back Jacob Shreiner’s interception.

Despite trailing by 14 in the 2nd quarter, Elkhart Central battled back to tie the game early in the 3rd with a 69-yard Rocha touchdown. Memorial was able to pull ahead with a touchdown midway through the 4th quarter, but had its extra point partially blocked. The ensuing Blazer drive started with a 32-yard strike from Jackson Wiltfong to Kyran Pearson. The home team then milked the clock before Rocha’s touchdown with 1:01 left. Jacob Kaiser’s 3rd extra point of the game put the Blue Blazers ahead for good.

Head coach Josh Shattuck’s 1-0 Blue Blazers will travel to Goshen this Friday to take on the Red Hawks.
