Game Recap

The Varsity Softball team rallied from a 5-run deficit to defeat South Bend Adams last night. Despite trailing 8-3 heading into the bottom of the 6th, the Lady Blazers scored 3 runs each of the last two innings for the 9-8 victory.

“This was a great team win, several girls stepped up big late in the game against a very good Adams team,” said head coach Brent Bardo. “I am extremely proud of our girls for not throwing in the towel after trailing 8-3.”

“Our freshman, Jenni Gill hit a clutch double to lead the way and I was impressed with her composure in a tough situation. Also, Lilly Fann, who has pitched 26 innings in three days, was also key for our team.”

“This being a very tough NIC game will come back to help us later in the season,” added Bardo. “The girls know if they play 7 complete innings, they have a chance for the win. I couldn’t be more proud.”

The win was the 4th straight for Elkhart Central and 5th out of their last 6. The team is now 7-8 on the season and will travel to John Glenn tomorrow.
