Over the last four seasons, the girls cross country teams has transformed into one of the stronger programs in the area. One of the key contributors to that success has decided where to continue her career. Surrounded by family, coaches, and teammates, Stacy Dibley signed with Trine University Friday.
Dibley ran cross country and track all four years for Elkhart Central and has been a captain for two seasons. This past cross country season, she took 1 minute and 42 seconds off her personal best time, placing 20th at Sectionals and helping the team advance to Regionals for the first time in a decade.
“Her hard work ethic during practices shows others on the team that they can do more,” said head cross country coach Bekah Shenk. “She is a very competitive, athletic individual who has run in the top three all four years of cross country.”
Dibley will major in chemical engineering while running for the Thunder. “I really liked the campus and it felt like home there the first time I visited,” said Dibley. “It is close enough to home and they have an awesome engineering program.”
“I am very proud that Stacy has chosen to continue running cross country and track at Trine University,” said Shenk.
